Bei den Warpstock 2002 in Austin Texas koennen Sie mit Ihren eigenen Augen sehen, wovon Sie bisher nur gehoert haben. Wir entschuldigen uns fuer die Laenge dieser Nachricht, aber das Warpstock weekend wird vollgepackt sein mit aufregenden Dingen rund um OS/2 und eComStation. Einige dieser Dinge seien hier genannt:

• Bob St. John von Serenity Systems wird uns erlaeutern was wir von eComStation 1.1 erwarten koennen. Es wird einige Copies der 1.1 beta geben.

• AiR-BOOT ist ein hochgradig anpassbarer boot-loader mit Farbigen Menu, Eingbautem Setup und einigen anderen Features die andere boot-loader derzeit nicht anbieten.
• Virtual Device Drivers:
  • VCOMPAT ist ein spezieller VDD, der ein paar Belange fixt in VDMs fuer bessere Kompatibilitaet.
  • VDMA ist fuer die Virtualizierung von DMA Transfers in der VDM (Virtual DOS Machine).
• "OS/2/eComStation - VDM Compatibility List" - Liste von DOS Spielen die unter OS/2 arbeiten. Jedes funktionierende Spiel wurde gestarted/gespielt unter benutzung der DOSGAMES.set Konfiguration.

Mit dem aktuellen ODIN Build ist es - wieder einmal - mЖglich, das StarOffice und OpenOffice.org 1.01 auszufЭhren. FЭr das StarOffice wird die Freetype.dll benЖtigt, OOo kommt ohne aus. Drucken gehr gar nicht (jede BerЭhrung der Druckfunktionen bringt das Office zum Absturz). Speichern im nativen .SX?-Format kann fehlschlagen, das 5.x-Format funktioniert jedoch.

Opera Software veroeffnetlichte Opera 5.12 fuer OS/2 nach extensivem beta testing. Stabilitaetsprobleme von vorherigen Versionen wurden gefixt, insbesondere die INI file corruption wenn eine 2. Instanz von Opera gestartet wird, Hintergrundprobleme mit GIFs, und das nutzen von Win32 plugins.
