Этот вопрос возник после того, как мы узнали, что число разработчиков BeOS сокращено до 40 человек. Сколько же человек занимается разработкой OS/2? По неофициальной информации, непосредственно полуосью занимается 6 человек (ядро и другие компоненты). Суммарное число программистов, занятых на OS/2 (в том числе разработчиков драйверов), превышает 100 человек (среди них есть индийцы, латыши).

Кроме того, Stauff портирует XMozilla в XFree/OS2: Новые иксовые аж 3 штуки варпзиллы для QT GTK XLIB и для PM! Как я и предсказывал, GTK версия грузится 15 секунд и работает как болид формулы 1. Русский поддерживается полностью. Падения иксовых версий случаются. Баг-репорты приветствуются. Брать все с хоббесов. Это последняя попытка приучить народ к иксовому софту - не будет репортов, отзывов и т.д. можно забыть о последующих портах.

Brian Havard has updated his port of Ogg Vorbis to version 1.0rc2. Ogg Vorbis is an audio compression format similar to MP3 using variable bit rates but free of patented algorithms and fully open source. Quality is at least as high as that of similar MP3s.

The new version features more flexible encoding modes, channel coupling, lower bitrate support, and much more.

The package contains:

• oggenc: compresses WAV files into OGG format
• oggplay: Simple command line player
• ogg123: A more fully featured command line player
• OggPlay.dll: A plug-in for PM123, originally written by Sofiya
