Just a friendly reminder to anyone submitting news for broadcast on the VOICE Newslist (orginal Text).
Please send all News List posts to submit@os2voice.org. Currently the list is still only being moderated by one person, but that will change in the future. If you send a post to another address, it may not get posted.
Also when submitting posts, please try to include a short (one paragraph should suffice) description of what the event or product is. Sometimes people forget that not everyone is up on the latest hot applications. Or people may not have been interested when a previous post came through. You may think everyone knows what the product is, but some folks would have no idea what XYZ is if all you give is a version number and a file download URL.
To everyone subscribed to the list, thank you for persevering with our limited functionality. We still plan to add a web archive of the list as well as the ability to get the list in a digest version. We will implement these features when time and talent permit. If anyone feels they can help out with these or other tasks involved in helping VOICE meet it's goal of educating and supporting the OS/2 community, please don't hesitate to write me at editor@os2voice.org.

Yuri Dario hat heute die neue Version MySQL 3.23.42 veröffentlicht. Dies ist die erste öffentliche Version von MySQL, welche nicht
auf den EMX Bibliotheken aufbaut, sondern mit dem IBM VisualAge Compiler übersetzt wurde. Dies sollte einige Probleme der
Datenbank beheben, welche auf die EMX Bibliotheken zurückzuführen waren.
Achtung: Diese Version benötigt einen 32Bit TC/IP Stack (TCP/IP >4.0)

Blueprint Software Works, Inc hat NetDrive 2.0.1 für OS/2, ein virtuelles Dateisystem, ver?ffentlicht, welches transparenten Zugriff auf verschiedene Resources erlaubt. Die neue Version beinhaltet eine verbesserte Unterstützung von externen Plugins, und ist Voraussetzung f?r das kommende 'CIPHER' Plugin.
Das NetDrive Control Panel, welches in dieser Version mitgeliefert wird, blockiert den Presentation Manager nun auch nicht mehr, während eine Resource gemounted wird.
Verfügbare externe Plugins:
- FTP - Zugriff auf einen FTP Server.
- NFS - Zugriff auf NFS (Network File System) Laufwerke.
- VFAT - lesen/schreiben auf Disketten, welche lange Dateinamen von Microsoft Windows 95 VFAT benutzen.
- Psion - um Psion PDA Laufwerke zu benutzen.
- HPC200 - um auf Bilder von der Hewlett-Packard PhotoSmart C200 Digitalkamera zuzugreifen.
- ISOFS - Lesezugriff auf ISO-9660 CD Images. Unterstützt Joliet, Rockridge, lange ISO Namen, nationale Zeichensütze, Multisession Images.
- CIPHER - transparenter Zugriff auf Dateien in cipher.
