Alexey Gankov (Alex-G) hat mit der Veroeffentlichung von Articeln zur Erklaerung seines Abwendens von OS/2 begonnen. Die erste Story nennt sich Zeitweise Beerdigung von OS/2 (russischer Text). Die nexte Story sollte die eComStation in negativer Form beschreiben.

Igor Vaskov informierte uns das eine frische Version von SMSD veroeffentlicht wurde (universaler SMS messages gate-router). Dieses ist der nachfolger von SNPPD mit mehr Features. Zusaetzliche Informationen gibt es auf www.granit.msk.rur (russicher text).

Das interesse an der Software steigt den diese ermoeglicht die nutzung von allen vorzuegen von modernen technologien (Internet und SMS-paging).

Ich habe eine offene Mailing List auf meinem Server fuer eine Discussion ueber Drahtlose Kommunikation unter OS/2 eingerichtet. Tops der Discussion beinhalten drahtloses Netzwerken (802.11x, IrDA, Bluetooth, etc.) und entsprechnende Netzwerkprotokolle & Technologien (TCP/IP, IPX, routing, etc.) in einem OS/2 environment (oder die VerbindungsmЖglichkeiten zwischen OS/2 und anderen OSses).

Um sich in die Liste einzuschreiben, senden Sie eine Nachricht an den Robot mit dem Kommando "subscribe os2-wireless_users" im Textteil (Ohne die Anfuehrungszeichen).

InnoTek-Serenity-Einigung enthaelt Java 1.4.1_01

InnoTek und Serenity Systems haben eine Basis-Uebereinkunft erreicht um das Java 1.4.1_01 von InnoTek in das bevorstehende Release der eComStation Entry 1.1 zu integrieren.

Ausserdem sollenn InnoTek Producte in das eComStation Application Pack 1.1 zugefuegt werden. Das beinhaltet Macromedia Flash 5 fuer OS/2 und Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05. Das eComStation Application Pack 1.1 derzeit beinhaltet Smart Suite 1.7.1, Applause and HOBLink X/11 Server fuer OS/2.

Die Demo version von Macromedia Flash 5 fuer OS/2 ist im Entry Product. Jetzt ist das volllizensierte Product im Application Pack.

Der Adobe Acrobat 4.05 Support von InnoTek nutzt ODIN.

Der Nutzer erhaelt ein Icon auf dem Desktop (kein reboot!), das es erlaubt den Acrobat Reader 4.05 fuer WIN32 zu starten. Es gibt aber kein Browser Plugin, Der Reader muss als Hilfsapplikation in Netscape oder Mozilla konfiguriert werden.

Microsoft kauft Connectix um in den Server Consolidation Markt zu kommen

Microsoft plant diese Woche einen grossen sprung in den server consolidation Bereich durch die Ankuendigung deracquisition von der virtual server software Firma Connectix.

Connectix ist auch der Herrsteller von Virtual PC fuer Windows, Virtual PC fuer Mac und Virtual PC fuer OS/2, welches Benutzern erlaubt multiple operating systems auf einem PC laufen zu lassen.

Die technologie wird in den Windows code integriert, behauptet die Quelle.
