again I tried to install eCS 2.0 beta on a Lenovo ThinkCentre A60
Model 8991-30G (AMD Athlon X2 3800+, 2GB RAM, nVidia GForce 7600
PCIe, 160 GB SATA, DVD burner, Multi CardReader).
I rezised the primary NTFS partition from 32GB to 24GB, I don't know why
it opens a file dialog before rezising, but it was working anyway.
I installed mostly everything on a 8GB bootable JFS, the installation
went through in at about 20 min and the OS started without serious errors.
Now the Broadcom NIC is supported, USB memory stick and USB mouse are
working but there is still no sound. I can't find how to power of the
system after a shutdown (with beta 2 this was not working at all), the
performance of the screen redraw is very bad and the refresh rate of the
screen still ist not working with 85Hz as I set it before.
They integrated Innotek/Sun Java JRE 1.4.2-09 but only the old useless
Flash 5 player and Fax Lite - there is somewhere a Flash 7 player that
may could be use if the license is clear and there was the full version
of FaxWorks out for free some time ago.
I didn't tried anything ACPI related and I didn't tried the DVD burner,
the internet access with eCSoNet, the scanner with tame or any printer.
It is mentioned that SMP is not supported on AMD Athlon X2, I tried it
anyway and as result I got a trap in the OS2 kernel after the first
reboot - hopefully this will be fixed for the final version!

Roderick Klein 2007-08-31 15:45:00 | The reason flash 7 is not included is because the license from Adobe does not allow this. Full faxworks was distributed by CDS. We never got permission to distribute that version. |
